Is KD still relevant in SEO?

Of course KD is still important for SEO in 2024. You need to check KD before starting the work.

KD is one of my most important metrics. If a keyword has a 95 KD and another one has a 40 KD, I will chose the later one even if the traffic gap between the two is quite high. Traffic on that keyword means nothing to me if I cannot rank on that keyword
 
KD is a useful metric, it’s also important to consider other factors when evaluating keyword opportunities, especially when dealing with authoritative sites. Analyzing content quality, user intent and overall SEO strategy is very vital.

While Keyword Difficulty (KD) can help new websites, well-established ones prioritize content quality, authority, and user experience over KD alone.
 
While KD is helpful, it shouldn’t be the only factor you rely on for SEO decisions.
 
It still does matter, the accuracy of the metric is another story.
