It's good for redirects and link shorteners. That's pretty much it.

It's nice if you can either get one that is branded or one that is niche specific, but that's not even necessary.

For example, I own one that is related to the WAH niche, so it's helpful, but I just use it as a link shortener. All it's really good for.

I understand what you are saying but for a link shortener i can prob get something like bi.sz that is much shortener and prob a lot cheaper so getting a .com for that is pretty useless after what was just said.
