When you plan to launch a website these days do you consider having a custom web design? Or is it always a template-based option you choose (since it’s cheaper)?
In my opinion it is definitely worth paying more for getting more. There are so many benefits that come with a fully customized web design.
First of all, “custom” means created to your specifications. A premade solution can look good and have a great amount of useful features, but there are still some limitations set by a theme. This is not the case when we talk about a custom design. Not only do you get a chance to display your own logo, fronts, color schemes, style choices (everything else that makes your brand identity unique), you also get the ability to organize these elements the way you want. It’s good to have that control when you’re after standing out and reaching your audience in the most efficient way.
Then you have a high-quality user experience. It’s simple – you know what your customers need (that could be anything from useful information to some purchasing options) and you give it to them by constructing a perfect custom web-design.
It is, by the way, also great for scaling. When a business grows a web platform which represents it should evolve too. With a custom design there’s no need to worry about your site's ability to gradually show more content/products/services; to adjust to new design trends or SEO practices; to adapt to your audience needs (and they will surely change with time) in terms of navigation structure, etc.
QA is another important thing. A premade template can be perfect for the designer's set up, but not for a website owner’s. It’s good to have a custom solution, which was created specifically for your working environment, considering your hosting choice, and so on. Having discovered all the potential problems is a great way to avoid complications in the future.
And of course, a professional appearance is something that is guaranteed. Ok, I agree that these days it’s easy to find some well-designed themes, but at the end of the day they will still look less professional than a custom design of a high quality.
So yeah, I guess it’s clear why people are still ready to invest in a custom solution despite the fact that there are so many cool and cheap templates online.
