its not the members spotting spam thats the change, its the automated side that got way stricter. fresh accounts and repeated links get filtered before a human even sees the post. the sneaky manual promo you mention still slips through fine, its the bulk stuff getting nuked nowYes the reddit is a big platform and although reddit members are very tech savy and can spot obvious promotions there is still members who are sneaky and are a lot of them who try and even promote succesful their products/service so is kinda self promotion but much harder to spot compared with other platforms
