I've been told that unless I use Linux (and if I use Windows of my VirtualBox) all the other efforts to make myself anonymous (VPS, VPN, anti-detect browser, proxies, monero etc.) are useless as one' identity can be easily be tracked by a human (hacker, investigator etc.) .

Is it true?

you are marked that mean. some organiztionn is tracking you. adn put resource and effort on it.

Well, if it's not a government organization, but some individuals for some personal reasons want to trace who runs certain social media profile.
What WOULD be enough?
There must be a way to make it untraceable, otherwise, if all is useless, why all the efforts people are making with all the IP cloaking etc?
Let's say you are a hacker, you for sure must be able to have a way to make your soak puppet untraceable.

if it's personal hacker, they need to get you click some script one way or annother to take over your pc.
ip cloacking,browser, anti detectbrowser is enough cause purpose is only to avoid algorithm catching up. but it's different if some organization burning money and resource to track you.
also nhacker is that bored to track who run this acc excepet personal vendetta.

There are enough of strange people on the net, especially in certain industries.
And there is enough statistical criminal data of cyberstalking.

I will be doing work for a client who believes she really must protect her identity.

I am trying to learn here how everything should be setup for her absolutely highest anonymity.

if it's the highest than use vps that can be rented with crypto. make sure the crypto also not purchased from any Central exchange that can be tracked to you. than use proxy to connect to vps, and use another proxy on the vps. also have no relation or connection at all with your real sm acc. add more hops to feel safer. proxy should also aquired with purchase that can be true anonym. aka crypto with no trace on use email etc. you really need effort and budget for the highest anonymity.

So, if i do all that on a VirtualBox, is it critical not to run it on Windows?

Also, if USDT is bought on Coinbase (centralized) and then swapped to XMR on SimpleSwap.io (which seem to too be centralized, but I hear at least it's not a scam and has good support), then XMR is sent to a personal wallet, is it still an easily traceable footprint?

I am having a hard time finding a reliable XMR swap for US (read all the stories about scam exchanges, funds disappearing, absent customer service etc.)

It's not 100% true. You can keep your Windows box completely anonymous, as long as you don't enter a Microsoft account, you set a proxy to the netword card of VM BEFORE you start the installation, etc...

A common error is to set the VPN inside the box. By that time Microsoft will already have your local info in their servers. Windows obviously, like Mac OS, retrieves a ton of local info as soon as you install it, and IP address is something very natural to be retrieved.

Linux obviously is a way safer option, because is not managed by anyone in particular (except Ubuntu and RedHat, and some others). But if you go with a ultra safe MX Linux, Debian, Arch, or sometthing like that, you will be 100% sure that you could even run the system without a proxy behind and noone will collect your data.

if you use xmr monero tha all transaction track will be voided as long t he exchange is decentralized and hold no record of it.
as for not to run it on windows, for your use it's not that critical. the only difference with linux, in linux you can control all process 100% so it's safer, but it require some skill and exprience on the os itself.

Because that's exactly what i was planning to do, to set the VPN inside the VM.

I am a nob, so could you please explain how to do it? Here in chat or on the thread?

So, I install VirtualBox, then I install Windows on it, and then I wanted to install VPN. You say, no to it.
So how do I add proxy there instead, at that stage? I was planning to have different proxy for each social media account, after installing VPN.
