No, it is never too late to become an Amazon affiliate. If you haven't done so already be sure to sign up.
As for methods, simply create a blog or Shopify store that you can perform SEO and traffic generation on.
Build it up with good content and make the traffic want to buy the products you affiliate with in your niche.

instead of polluting the internet with shitty review blogs I guess it would be a better lot to create an authority site (small) and then work up.

I dont want to jack OP's Thread, but since there are many ppl comment on this simple question, here is mine: I read some than once that amazon will remove you from the partner programm if you setup a blog/shop and advertise ONLY amazon product links. Is it true that you get punishd if you dont add other products to the blog/store?
