If you're looking to rank in a google images search, you will have a harder time. If you just need window dressing for your website/blog content/product page/etc. then it shouldn't matter as the content will be what gets you listed.But what about everyone using unsplash globally - these are not unique if millions use it?
Adding on top of what @moumen said, using images that already exist is considered bad for SEO, because it's not unique.
So even if you used images you bought or downloaded leagally, you need to modify them.
