is it right.. google webmaster shows wrong results

Hello everyone

I am confused what is happening with me. I open google webmaster tools and visit performance tab. I checked all keywords in webmaster with their impression and position.

Keywords are shown in webmaster with impression but when I checked them in google, not at that position which shown in google webmaster. I am totally confused what is happening

pls help me out

Maybe you're logged into your google account (gmail, youtube, etc) when you check the rankings, which is bad because google shows you results that are tailored to your search history, search habits, and personal preferences. Just log out of ALL your google accounts and use incognito mode (or use a VPN) and then you'll be able to see the REAL rankings...

Also, keep in mind that rankings do fluctuate, so even if you see one of your keywords ranking at position 24 in google when you check it, 10 minutes later it might be out of top 100. And this is especially true for new sites, or sites that google doesn't trust and throws in pages 2+ of the SERPs... or when you buy links the rankings can also fluctuate for some time...

Last but not least, GSC gives you averages, not exact numbers. I mean, if you tell GSC to show you the rankings of your URL over the last 24 hours it might show you stable rankings that match up with what you're seeing via manual check, but if you check over extended periods of time you'll see averages...

Anyway, you should use GSC as a guidance mostly as it's not very accurate

For me GSC showing these nonsense all the time.
Even if you get 4 results penalty - it shows your site is indexed and ranking fine.
