Is it possible to switch out IG account names?

As my title asks, is it possible to switch out IG account names? Let me explain more. I want to build a page to later promote a clothing line. I have a page with that exact name which I do little posting on and no botting. I don't want to risk botting this page atm. Don't want to risk losing the name. If I was to build a page with a different name would I then be able to transfer this name over?


This is my idea..... Page A is the name I like. Page B is the page I'm building. When page B is where I need it to be can I change the name of Page A, releasing the name, and then quickly chnage the name of page B to Page A's prior name?

interesting question, i think the answer is yes, maybe not immediately, but after a little while
if i'm not mistaken it's against ig's TOS to reserve an account name and keep it inactive, but as long as it has some activity, it'll be fine for sure

but you can easily test this, if you have at least 2 accs, so you don't necessarily need to wait to be able to find this out

I'm going to give it a shot when I'm at the office. Don't want to log into too many accounts from one IP. I only building and botting 1 page now so I haven't made the proxy leap yet.

But for the record, I do post on that page. Every few days I'll upload a pic and drop a few likes just to build account strength.

I take back what I said and Honeybird is correct. I just tried it and it works, but there may be a waiting period.

About 2 months ago, I changed my ig name. I just tried to create an ig account using that same name and IG shows it is available. I suspect there will be a waiting period before you are allow to use it after you delete your account or change the name.
 
Yeah, you can. I have many placeholder accounts that hold names in different niches which I transfer over after the page has aged a little bit and has gained some engagement. No wait period, nothing. Incredibly awesome if you ask me.
 
i've changed names with no problem so there shouldn't be an issue, you never know if they will change that in the future though...
