Hello,
I've never made a website or did any SEO. All my work has been done on eBay but its annoying, i can't constantly work, i list items and search for new products. I can't just buy all these new product lines because i don't have the money (I've probably got $6000 in stock). Anyway, i want to get into websites, i've been thinking and i want to try to build a live streaming website, where i will live stream NRL (Australian Rugby League) that are not available to people without pay TV. I'm hoping to use wordpress and i have a way of filming the games and using it live, im hoping to monetize it by little pop ups and ads around the video as well as ads on the video.
Is there hope? Or is this a plan that will just waste my time?
Thanks.

I thought you'd just be a clueless noob asking for a handout, but that's actually a good niche idea, especially if you're going to film the games yourself and will be the only one online streaming them. People can bank on streaming games.

Just check G's keyword tool to make sure it gets enough searches.

Thanks for the reply.
Theres about 1-2 other known websites to me but they do really low quality videos, its laggy and out of sync.
I will look into it some more, thanks again.

$6,000 in stock? Really dude? Well you're off to a start. You might not want to rule ebay out yet. But there are alternatives. Amazon used stuff. Google Ebay alternatives if you like. You complained about constantly working. No way around that in the beginning. Half of that work is in study. The answer to almost every question you'll ask can be found with a search. You'll need to work as much as at a fulltime job. Maybe more. For years until you learn to automate and scale up your successes. Your eventual reward?
1) Working for yourself.
2) Unlimited advancement and earning potential.

Good luck.

Also the best way to monetize these things isn't with ads or having a content locker right away, but time it so they can watch for a minute or two or three, get them hooked, then have the content locker load.

Yes, content locking is a standard for this type of service. There are many CPA offers to try!

D.

That's a good idea,
However I don't want to interrupt the game to make them complete an offer, maybe at half time, I was also thinking about mabye a premium service, so they pay $9.99 a month and all the ads and content lockers get removed.
I think the thing I want to build is it to be a social network type thing. There's going to be a live sidebar text chat where people can sign up and mabye something like a tipping forum where people tip who's going to win. Just a thought

I never said I was ditching eBay, just there's nothing to constantly work on, I want something that in my free time I can upgrade my site without having to buy hundreds of $$$ worth of stock and wait 2 weeks to get them, if you know what I mean.
Im in Australia so a lot of eBay alternatives are out of question for most of my products.

Just keep in mind that it might need to be a hit-and-run type operation, when you factor in how much time you want to dedicate to it. A few months in and you might get a cease-and-desist from the NRL, or G could remove you with a DMCA take down. But that'll only be if the site is a success and you've already banked.

Hope that doesn't happen, thanks for all your replies, will defiantly take them into consideration.
One more quick question, could a soccer training website make any money, this is something i would spend a far bit of time on doing (i know a far bit about soccer). Its the kind of thing when i'm travelling i want to get on my iPad and make a training section. My plan to monetize that would be trying to be an affiliate of amazon products and google ad sense.
Thanks again!

Sounds like you're on the right track. There are sites like justin.tv which pay you for getting video views. Not sure if a site exists of the same type for streaming shows/matches. Also might want to be sure there's no issue with copyrights as you could get the site taken down if that were the case.

That'd be a harder one, there's lots of competition. And people mostly want quality videos for that. If there are sub-keywords within soccer training (like soccer drills) that get good searches, you can get in the top 10 easier.

A soccer player forum could do well too.
