Is it possible to 'hide' back-links?

Hi,

I write for several high authority sites. I have managed to sneak in backlinks for relevant topics but I have never linked an unrelated topic.

Is it possible to 'hide' links by, say, having 95% of a word linking to the relevant site and the last letter backlinking an unrelated site for SEO purposes? Are the editors of high authority sites able to tell what sites you are linking to?

Would be pretty easy to tell imo. Why not be honest or somehow work the link into your article as opposed to risking hiding it and ruining your relationships?

Hey, could you explain to me why it would be easy to tell? From my perspective, it would seem practically impossible to detect unless the editor had some sort of program that identified every link in the document. Do they have such a program?

This link is to two different sites. Could you tell?

Apart from risking your relationship with the content buyers, this is a major footprint for Google's antispam. I mean who the heck links the same word to two different things and with one letter link anchor? Either Google will consider it a typo or error, or spam. Either way not good for you in the end.

Is this anecdotal or confirmed?

Personally, if you were writing for me I would want to see what you are linking to - so would look in depth (especially if I am going to publish it on my site). Also if the editor wanted to nofollow something and went to any sort of text editor to add the tag... would be pretty obvious.

The only thing I've confirmed right now is that the same person owns the two links you just dropped into this thread.

If that person is you I would remove those links like right now. In your best interest, that is.

Trust me I could care less about trying to SEO on this site. It is no follow anyways.. I just want my question answered because there are people willing to buy backlinks to my sites for $500 +

Also, don't go around giving people anecdotal "information" It just wastes everyone's time...

Overall, you guys seem somewhat defensive/biased, and I don't get the impression that you know what you are talking about when it comes to this issue.

LOL.

Good for you for removing your stupid links. Now go back to SEO 101.

When I'm trying to get actual information the last thing I need is some weirdly defensive guys telling me what they 'feel' as if it is verifiable fact.

And the only reason I posted those links was to illustrate a point. The only reason I removed them is because I can sense you are the type looking for any little reason to cause trouble.

A non-autist wouldn't care about some silly no follow links, but yea thats BHW for ya.

Gee OP. You're really coming across as a nice guy!

Hiding things from your employers, possibly marking their sites as spam. Insulting other members.

But hey, each to their own right?

There is no need to use the last letter of a word. You can make the link not visible in a whole word.

Bla bla bla GFYO. I already knew the herd of morons would descend on me as it usually does. If you people would stop acting like weirdly defensive assholes all the time maybe I would be nicer.

Go ahead report me, I dont like the culture of this place anyways.

if it crosses your mind, then chances are someone else would do it
