Is it possible to create a batch job in your browser to "Export" SEMRush or Ahrefs rows to .xlsx or .csv?

I was wondering if it was possible to create some sort of batch job in Chrome or Firefox, where you could automate or semi-automate the exporting/downloading of .xlsx/.csv exports of SEMRush or Ahrefs data.

I don't know much about the technical aspect of what's going on here or what you'd have to automate exactly. I'm imagagining there is some sort of POST request being sent by the browser when you click to get the export in the browser, and maybe you could identify this by using "Inspect"?

After that though I have no idea how you'd create some tool to do this in batch fashion. Is this something that is possible?

Everything can be automated what you can normally do in a browser. Look into iMacros or Browser Automation Studio. With iMacros you can record the process and fine tune the macro with delays, loops, set the download location etc. Once you get a hang of it, it's really useful for repetitive tasks.

Selenium will let you do this. As @HoNeYBiRD mentioned, iMacros is also good.

Thanks. Do you have any suggestions for a free macro recorder? Are there any decent free ones, or do you have to pay for the good ones?

Thanks. How would I find out what GET or POST requests I would need to send to Selenium? I can use Python but I don't know anything about the technical stuff about how I'd find out what exacty is happening when you click the "XLSX" or "CSV" button in SEMRush.

When I right click those icons there's no "Copy link address", I'm not sure exactly what the buttons do so I don't know what I would have to emulate using Selenium.

Imacros provides browser extensions for free for FF, Chrome and IE. But i think you can find the standalone version in the download section here.

At a generic level: when you are faced with two options, and the cost of trying out each option is negligible, why not try out both?

Well, I don’t really know what the browser is doing here. I don’t know the technical stuff here, so not only do I not know what it’s doing, I don’t know how to figure it out

How do I figure out what the browser is doing when I click the “Export” button in SEMRush? Right clicking on “Export” doesn’t seem to be helpful, or at least I don’t know what to make of it.
