I know things are competitive these days, but is it normal to get paid $1.5/article of 600-words?

I am talking of articles I type with my hands, well researched, and have passed Copyscape premium.

I am not a native, is it normal these days to work at such a rate?

I am looking for an online job, please share sources to access good writing gigs even for non-native, like $3 to $5 per article? I don’t mind working for low rates if it’s a long-term gig.

I know it might sound like that is what I deserve based on writing quality, here is a short paragraph so that you can see writing sample for evaluation;

"The Canadian government is known for its excellent educational system and educational infrastructures. They are also known for a standard and subsidized quality educational sector. This opens great opportunities for every citizen to have access to quality education and many opportunities tied to it. The health sector in Canada has a lot of openings that attract immigrants; A professionally trained doctor in Canada earns an average annual salary of $300,000, and other professional jobs can also make this amount. Those without a professional skill or high-level education can earn an average of $50,000 annually."

Probably worth around $0.50 per 100 words.

Look at the market rates here.

Your articles are worth whatever someone’s willing to pay.

The sample you’ve given has no flow and failed to keep my attention. I wouldn’t pay much for it.

YES, if it Copy and Paste

Writing is art. I didn't invent this - it is art and is protected by law. Therefor, you could charge as much as you like for your art. Charging 1.5$ / 600 words is low according to current price range but it is your decision. I would like to think you manage to price it so low because you want to get more work, but I assure you my friend that with patience and waiting good things will come.

$1.5/600 words is ridiculously low that is barely $3 for 1000 words.

Improve yourself so you could charger higher

you should target 1$ per 100 words for now.. read more to improve your writing skills.
then ask for higher prices

Thank you for the advice.

That is what I thought, a lot of time is spent researching the articles and they're plagiarism free.

Content writing is very competitive these days. Learn other skills as well.
No, it's not... Actually, it's very hard to find a good content writer, normally you need a writer who knows your niche and can write in a creative way. Good luck finding those writers.

But I guess you're talking about those articles for $2 a pop... but that's just shit.

I am not a native, but I am working on improving my skills and willing to learn.

And of course I need to take care of myself as well.

Don't feel low if you are getting 1.5$ per article. Keep doing it,Make it enough, improve your skills and start reaching to more clients.

You are drastically under-pricing your services.

The question is if it's Ok for you and your customers

If your goal is to find long term job, then you will find it with this price for sure. You may raise your price only then, and if your work and new price will be good for them, they will pay it eventually. But don't be afraid or sad if you get a "no".

copy paste, spinner article ... I would say yes... well researched information, articles, inforgraphs etc... should be much higher than 1.5usd per 1000.... that's just ridiculous.....

if 100% of your clients are paying this..... increase your price with 20% with each new client while keeping the old clients to pay the bills....as time passes you will have to let the old customers go because the new ones are paying the proper premium rate..... then at that moment is when you tell the old clients to respect the new rate and if they are not happy they can look elsewhere....no need to burn bridges, build new ones and upgrade old ones.
