Hi everyone,

I launched a website about a month ago, and it's already ranking #10 for a keyword with 1,200 monthly searches and a Keyword Difficulty (KD) of 21.

The site is still a work in progress — I’m finalizing some responsive design adjustments and improving the content. I’m wondering if this quick indexing and ranking could be due to:

  • Luck?
  • A sign that the website is well-optimized so far?
  • Or is it just a normal behavior for Google’s ranking process?
Any thoughts or experiences you could share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Did you use an expired domain? If so, it may be normal

It is a new domain, the websire was indexed 1 month ago, and it has been in the top 10 for approximately 3 days and before approximately 1 week in the top 15. I have not added much content yet and I need to finish the responsive.

This is for a particular page (URL). For the company name keyword, it is in position 1 (obviously this KW has no traffic yet)

Yes, it may be normal. Keep in mind that usually Google put new website higher to start collecting ranking signals.

So, if during this phase your website has good ranking signals (how long your users stay in the website? bounce rate? and so on) then you can work for an even better ranking more easily (depending on the niche of course).

These days google sends analysis bots and gives you high/low rankings only when your site starts getting clicks. If keywords are on a position where you don't get any clicks, then Google will not bother much

Ranking at #10 so quickly shows that your optimization is on the right path. To keep improving, focus on creating high-quality content, improving user experience, and building strong, relevant backlinks.
