Is it necessary to buy hosting?

Hi, Everyone.

I am just new to blogging and currently, I am with WordPress. I purchased my own domain name to make it personalized. I am confused if hosting (like hostgator and bluehost) is necessary to improve ranking and number of visits? I blog about marketing and entrepreneurship. Currently, I have a personal plan with 6gb of storage.

Taking into account that hostgator hosting is basically free (it's like 5 bucks/month) you might as well just get it.
Also, the niche you have chosen is extremely competitive so if you're completely new to SEO and have a limited budget you might have a hard time getting traffic - just a heads up. Anyway, good luck with you site
 
i'm not sure with your title.. but if this about website,
yes, you will need hosting if you use wordpress.
about which hosting, just search web host with good infrastuctur and speed..
about ranking, if you website speed is good, will effect in your rank.
 
yes you need a good hosting plan so that your site loads fast and be good for visitors. otherwise google may not like it
 
Hosting can affect SEO both directly and indirectly.

The first factor is Uptime / Downtime. If you have constant downtime then this could affect your ranking Google doesn't like visitors to land on a dead page. Speed - i,e Server response time is also one of the important factors. No matter how fast your websites are optimized, if your server is extremely slow, it will affect your rankings. Hence, I advise you to pick a reliable web host provider.

Thank you for the heads up. I agree that the niche I have chosen is very competitive, but my purpose for this blog is to function as my test blog to learn about blogging, internet marketing and eventually SEO. Right now, I do not know much about it yet.
 
Yes, Google considers page load as an important factor for SE ranking as well, you could have a very good content in your Website, but if it gets you into a hassle to open it, you would be loosing all those important readers to your page searching for information you provide.

Wordpress.com IS hosting. Problem there is you are tied down by their rules, can't run some types of ads and so on. But you can experiment with on page SEO and see how your site ranks using Wordpress.com hosting - and they have a nice feature to help new sites, if you suddenly get promoted to their home page you get tons of free traffic. You don't need to move to your own hosting if you just plan on learning.
 
Blog hosters might be slow AF for big traffic. Hosting companies have options. Responsive design helps rank too, SSL, internal/external links, etc.... blah blah blaaaah
 
Yes, it is better you have full control on your own website, by the way, your title is a little confusing, I guess you have wordoress.com subdomain, if so, better you have your own domain and hosting, it won't cost you much.

My website does not have a WordPress subdomain because I bought a domain name.
