Is it me or...?

..all the keywords above 1k exact search/month have all been bhought in .com .org and .net extensions?

I have passed the last 2 weeks looking for some keywords starting on 9k monthly searchs and then coming down and down to 1k monthly searchs and found out that all the keywords worth buying that are suggested in google keyword tool are already bhought.

Although, most of those domains are parked domains, which makes me think some big guys want to ruin small fishs fun, or is it for selling porpose?

Can't understand, but I m very sure that MNS are saturated, almost impossible to find a small/good keyword.

Not every have been bought but most of them for sure. I don't think it's made purposely to ruin small fish. Ppl buy better domains to profit from them and big fish have big money to buy big amounts of domains.

but atleast 70% of them are parked! Can't see how they are profiting from this.

yeah there are so many parked.. maybe even more than 80%

99% of those are parked...

But whats the objectiv? Selling them for a higher price?

I think they will sell the domain in higher price ( at least the only thing that comes to my mind now)

Domain parking can be very profitable if you do it correctly!
(i.e develop a temp site for a year or two, massive promotional drive gaining SERPS, etc before parking).

However, there are still plenty of opportunities out there, its just not super simple that anyone can do it anymore.
You just have to be focused on what it is you want/want to do. For example, the last day I have had 3 ideas im considering, so have been doing keyword research. I cant remember the results off the top of my head, but ive got a piece on paper on my desk right now for one of these and can see its keywords have over 8k monthly searches with competition of only 2k with the .com domain being free.

Actually I just looked at another which I knew had a lot of potential.
Its got 74k monthly searches with only 14.5k competition.

Now the .com isnt available, so its time to be creative... either a different extension (its US-targetted so a .us will work) or mix it up a bit, so instead of example.com use examplesite.com, example-site.com, example4u.com, etc etc.

Yes to gain SERPS will be harder, but for 74k searches, well worth it!

The important thing to do before trying to compete, is to analyze every site on the first page of Google for this keyword and ask yourself "How are they getting this place?"
How SEO'ed is their site?
Have they targetted this keyword specifically, or has it just been picked up by Google?
What types of backlinks do they have/where from?
Are these from relevant sites?
Authority sites?
Do these target these specific keywords in anchor text?

Most importantly... is it another 'black hatters' site?
(e.g. are backlinks from Xrumer blasts, blog posts, etc?)
If so, as soon as you start competing, they will start knocking your efforts back and can be a very long-winded uphill battle you probably wont win!

Thx for your contribute Moggy. I know most of the points you talked above in analyzing comp and etc. I know the domain name has a huge importance in SEO but it's not determinant. But what I was trying to see in this, is what drives this guys to buy all the those domains to have them parked.

One thing could be that big fishs like amazon and other big brands, were seing their traffic coming down with those MNS and better get hand in all those keywords.

I just add an S or something to it and still get a huge benefit from it having the keyword phrase.

Just find the keywords with less competition and you don't have to have the EXACT domain to rank well with limited backlinking.

Personally from knowing some sad people that do this, a small % will buy 50-100 domains knowing nothing about SEO, IM, etc and believe that someone will come alone and pay them thousands for the domain. These are the same people that build fake companies, make out they have millions turnover, not even know what a backlink is and then believe some big company will somehow mysteriously know their random web address and want to buy their so-called "multi-million company". Honestly, im not exaggerating here either. So when they actually wake up and realize how stupid they have been, the only thing their tiny brains can comprehend is "park your domain here, we put ad's on and you will make lots of money".


However, the majority of times this type of thing falls within 3 main groups:

1. That they simply bought the domain knowing it was good, then havent yet or cant be bothered to develop it for whatever reason. They park it to earn a few pennies until they decide what to do with it, whether sell it for a tidy profit (aged + keyword rich) or develop themselves.

2. They buy hundreds of these keyword specific domains to develop in the future, then simply park them for 2-5 years to let the domain mature (have more authority etc etc). All the while slowing bookmarking/submitting to directories while adding general backlinks so its well known to Google and instantly ready to launch when they are ready.

3. They operate 'domain parking' as an automated business by buying hundreds/thousands of keyword domains, SEO them to page 1, and then simply park them to generate $$ just like you would with an autoblog and Adsense. Remember most of these were done a long time ago so recognized by Google as aged domains, its almost impossible to start this type of automated-income/business now because you would never get to page 1 with a parked page.
