Is it important for proxies to be in the same location as the server?

Hi,

I just bought back-connect rotating proxies from Storm Proxies and I have read somewhere (I don't exactly remember the source to cite) that the proxies need to be located in the same location as the server for optimal results.

Whereas Storm Proxies' tutorial says its recommended to use worldwide proxies for best scraping results.

My VPS is located in Romania, EU and I have an option to select proxies from EU.

Any suggestions or insights about this will be highly appreciated.

You cannot choose country specific proxies from Storm Proxies anyway. Using EU proxies would probably work the best, though.

They don't need to be, but that's the optimal, because that's when the connection will be the fastest, however most of the time the speed difference is not noticeable.

Makes sense. Wonder why are they recommending to use Worldwide proxies.

I'm from Storm Proxies, so let me explain:

To get most targets scrapped use worldwide option as there are more IPs all together then just in EU.

It wont make difference in speed as all connection goes in 2 layers. It first connects to out gateway server that is in USA and from there is connects to proxies.

These are specific proxies so rule about being closer to server does not apply here.

Hope it helps.
