Is it illegal to use fake data when registering a domain?

wait, what?? I've been buying domains for 13 years from dozens of registrars using only fake name (and no physical address provided) and not a single one of them had asked for my ID ever!

What registrar is asking for your ID, OP? We need to stay away from those fuckers, so please disclose their name.

Most .ca will require ID proof, but never had it for any other domain type.
 
Nope, is not illegal. But ICANN can shutdown your domain if they receive a abuse that's fake whois. That rarely happens.

I highly recommend you buy domains with Bitcoin (I recommend Monero (XMR) because is not easy to trace) and it will be good.
Just use a good offshore hosting provider that allows crypto payments like:

https://alexhost.com/domains/https://njal.lahttps://cheapprivacy.ru (no ID passport requested for .ru and .su domains that's a good thing!)
https://flokinet.is

You can provide fake details to the domain registration but one day it will be the end of your domain if they find out. The best thing is to use whois protection. Njal.la gives a few ways to register your domain anonymously. I use it since around 2019 and still gives the best service to me :)

It would have been a good privilege to know which mothers of which company CEOs to cuss at.
 
Depends on the domain register. Some will be annoying and do these kinds of things, but its likely related to their local laws, and some just don't care.
Also if its some shady domain register, they maybe just want to take your domain for whatever reason so they are trying to get rid of you.
But if you use whois protection, there is no outside risks. No one but the register will know about that and its likely that they dont care as long as you are their customer.

Btw im also pretty sure majority of domains were always registered with fake info exactly because everything is public... You don't have to do anything illegal to want to avoid leaving all that data somewhere public.
 
I've used fake info in getting domains, I've had more than two hundred domains in the last 15 years, so far no problem.
 
i think you wont get any problem if you use fake detail for registering the domain its quite normal.

I have bought and used many domains since over years. Never seen such an kyc issue. As you already mentioned domain se blocked means It's offical kyc email. There must abuse report againest your domain or someone trying hack or claim it . Otherwise they never ask for kyc.
 
That is expected you are using your real information. But all investigations started only if you are doing something against the rules.

Only reason to worry is if the person in the details makes a claim. But other than that, the hosting company wont care. Thats costing money. The employee need to be paid and noone will work for no reason.

Yes, nothing illegal about that. You can just ignore the email altogether.

Just have record for the fake data incase of fututre verifications
