Listening to the rave reviews in favour of Netfirms here, I decided to get a domain name from Netfirms yesterday.
First, they charged me and did not register the domain name. I managed to go to the live chat room, and sorted this out.

Next, I tried to change the DNS settings, because I have a hosting account with godaddy. I'm not too good at it.

What I did was to copy everything I saw under DNS in my godaddy account for one of the domain names I have there and put those records into my netfirms account. Is it what should be done? This is where I am not too sure.

Well, the website was up afterall, but every 30min or so, is offline again. Says cant find server. I tried to add google webmaster etc, but could not add, because I was told they cant find my domain name online..

I went to the live chat again, asked a technician for support. He either did not know what to do or did not want to tell. He was even a bit aggressive I thought.
So, can anyone please tell me how to change the settings correctly in NETFIRMS , so that I can use the hosting in godaddy.
Each time, the website is on for a few minutes and down again. This is cetainly not an issue with the hosting account, because all my other websites (all domain names bought + hosted on same hosting account at godaddy) are working fine.

I just cant get this domain name (bought from Netfirms) working correctly with the same godaddy hosting.

Please help!Thanks

Additional info: I copied nameservers, cname alias, ms record,ns record, A record from godaddy to netfirms. Is it what should be done?
thanks

PS; unfortunately could not find a link to report the guy who was providing support on netfirms. He told me to contact domaincontr0l.c0m ?!

Hey,

I use hostgator hosting with a lot of netfirms domains and never had problems. When you go into your netfirms control panel have you added your go daddy nameservers?

Thats the only information needed to connect the two. I noticed in netfirms you have to go to security and unlock the domain, then under the DNS tab you fill in your two godaddy nameservers, save and lock again.

Finally you go back to godaddy and add the domain e.g addon domain.

Thanks for the reply.Do I have to edit ONLY the nameservers, or add the mx record, cname alias, A host, etcc...
This is where I am confused. I added the godaddy nameservers + filled in the mx record, Cname alias , A host, etc , as for one of my working domain names in godaddy.

I can only tell you what I do with hostgator which is I have never used any other details in netfirms beside my nameservers. Thats all. Try it and see.

You have added the domain in godaddy as well right?

Yes I have added it to godaddy as well
I will try to delete the other settings in netfirms and see if it works

you don;t need to change anything

just change nameserver and you are gud to go

also wait for proper dns changes (24 to 48 hour)

Ive got another problem now. The problem I had with my domain name has been solved. Dont really know why and how?!
However, I now bought another domain name from netfirms, and again used the hosting from godaddy. I just changed the nameservers as being told above.
Now, according to iwebt00l, my http/ftp access is working, but it tells me my MYSQL seems offline?:S
Dont know whats wrong now. I only set the godaddy nameservers in Netfirms and used the wordpress set up in godaddy.
When i contacte godaddy, they say there is nothing wrong with them, and it could be a problem with my code! which code??? I only used wordpress installation from godaddy! and the erros is with the Mysql.:S
Any idea?anyone?
thanks

Dont use Netfirms they screw people all the time, they screwed me. search "netfirm scam"

Netfirms is affordable and i have more than 10 domains registered with them no worries.
