Is it a problem for ranking with such a domain?

The domain is an old one with a couple of high authority sites like business insider, msn. At certain point, I bought another domain and redirect it to it. After 3 years, I have removed the redirection and moved the content to this domain again. New content are getting indexed. I want to keep working on this site but wondering will ranking suffer because of its history. Is there anything I can do to test to figure out any issues attached to it? What would you do for making sure the domain is perfectly okay to Google?
