Is it a good idea to add databases to my blog?

Hi,

I have a blog about cinema. I have 50 articles about how to produce films.

If I import a huge database of all the films, annotate it, and put it into my site, will it affect the rankings of my articles? Is it a good idea?

Has anyone ever tried to take advantage of such data on their blog? What are the results?
