Initially I thought it helps good content to reach more people but after sometime I don't really see people using this reshare option. Most users still prefer sending posts through DMs or sharing them on stories.

So, I want to know is this feature actually helping people or is it just another feature that most people ignore ?
Has anyone else noticed it making a difference for engagement or reach ?

Yes instagram reshare option is useful. When someone reshare a content their followers got notifications and see that content.

The feed repost feature hasn't changed daily user habits, as dark social sharing still dominates the platform. Keep your focus on creating highly shareable Reels that people want to blast out to their close friends.

I haven't noticed it making much of a difference either. Most people still seem to share posts through DMs or Stories, so I'd focus on creating content people naturally want to send to others rather than relying on the reshare feature.

The feed reshare option is ignored by casual users who still prefer the privacy of DMs and Stories. however, it is an incredible tool for business accounts to easily curate and display user-generated content

The reshare option has not had much impact compared to stories or DM. Most people still use those because they feel more natural and get better interaction. I think it can help occasionally but i would not rely on it as a major source of reach.

I find your assessment completely accurate. User behavior shows that sending direct messages and sharing to stories is much more personal and selective than using the public "Reshare" button on a profile page.

I have not noticed a big difference from reshare yet but I think its too early yo judge this feature. Instagram added a lot of features over the years and some of them takes time before people starts to use it regularly.

From what I’ve seen, features like that usually take time before they really show impact, and a lot depends on the niche and audience behavior. If people in your space still lean more toward DMs and stories, that’s likely where most of the engagement will stay for now.

Instagram consider reshares as a part of engagement. More number of reshares mean the post is doing well and their algorithm will push the post further to reach more people.

Do not expect your regular followers to use it, but you should absolutely use it yourself to refresh old top performing posts. It is basically a low effort feature that most casual users bypass completely in favor of sending a quick DM.

It looks totally dead on personal pages, but the tool helps B2B accounts share industry news fast. For everyday growth, getting your post onto someone’s temporary Story brings in way more active eyeballs.

It might help a bit with discovery but I've barely seen it move engagement much unless the post is already doing well. Most people still stick DMs or stories. Reshare feature honestly doesn't seem that impactful yet.

From what I have seen the reshare feature has not become a major driver of reach Most people still share content through stories or direct messages If people genuinely enjoy your content those sharing methods seem to have a much bigger impact than relying on the reshare option alone

Re-share the story from a different account, it helps boost views. You can give it a try. If the account has followers, then it helps even more

Tbh I just follow what it says here:

I think Instagram's Reshare feature is not as useful as expected Most people still prefer sharing posts through DMs or Stories because they feel more personal and get more attention I haven't seen Reshares making a big difference in engagement or reach so for now it seems like a feature that many users simply ignore

I think this has been overlooked by the vast majority of accounts because they rely on the "dark social" model, many people prefer privacy.

However, i believe the metric holds value for the algorithm.

Yes, Instagram's reshare option can help increase reach by exposing your content to new audiences through other users.
