I've been getting this 5xx server error when I try going to the website. And the app also doesn't work.

It is down. Hold off on performing any actions on your accounts for 24-48 hours while they sort out their issues.
 
yes its difficult to perform any task on instagram today.
I am not even able to refresh notification.
Hope it gets fixed soon!
 
It seems to be up here in Central EU (on the web).
 
Its up again but they were down,kinda interesting what happened because IG has multiple data centers around the globe.
 
Experienced samething for couple of hours, back to normal now
