Guest posting still works, but only if the site has real traffic and relevance. Writing for random blogs just for a backlink is mostly a waste now.
If it brings real readers and authority, it’s worth it otherwise not really.

What makes guest posts valuable is the planning one does, ideally at the beginning of making a website. What is your main purpose, at what point? In the first wave of guest posts, it may be your plan to just get indexed, so posting to Google News Approved domains may be sufficient. BEFORE starting the site, did you review the niche and the competing cites, to see what "quality" is out there?
Did you go through and build a list of the best two dozen or so relevant guest post sites to see which ones were the best for authority or traffic? Did you check the best articles on editorial sites, to figure out how to write a guest post that fits their standards? In that case you could create guest posts that are already a match for both sites, and so grow both brands. That's the process for obtaining "quality posts" and links.

In 2026, guest posting still provides value in terms of authority, traffic, and brand building when done selectively and strategically; however, if you’re simply publishing on as many sites as possible just to gain links, it can easily become a waste of time with minimal results.

guest posting works but 90% of the "guest post opportunities" being sold on bhw and fiverr are garbage sites with zero real traffic. the ones that actually move rankings are the ones you can't buy easily, you gotta pitch real blogs with real audiences. i'd rather get 1 link from a legit niche site than 50 from pbn-style "guest post networks" that google already knows about.

Guest posting is still effective in 2026 if you choose reputable blogs, create high-quality content, and match the right audience; however, posting everywhere just for backlinks usually doesn’t bring much value.

Guest posting still works in 2026, but only if you focus on **real, niche-relevant sites with actual traffic**, not random blogs that exist just to sell links. The spammy mass-posting style is mostly dead, but a few high-quality placements can still build authority, backlinks, and even referral traffic if the audience actually reads the site.

Guest posting still has value if you choose reputable sites and the right audience, but the benefits now focus more on building authority and quality backlinks, rather than automatically driving large traffic as before.

A single placement on a relevant site with real traffic seems to outperform dozens of low-quality posts.
In my case, referral traffic + trust signals made a bigger impact than the backlink itself.
Do you also track assisted conversions from guest posts, or just look at rankings?

It’s no longer about mass posting on any site you can find. What actually works now is:
- Posting on sites with real traffic & niche relevance
- Keeping outbound links limited and natural
- Adding real value (data, insights, examples) instead of generic content
If done right, guest posts help with:
- Authority building
- Ranking improvements
- Brand visibility
But if you’re just posting on dead sites or link farms, it’s a waste of time.
Best approach:
Mix high-quality guest posts + niche edits for faster movement, and keep PBN usage minimal for testing/control.
In short: Guest posting still works—but quality > quantity now.
