My question is if Google is targeting sites with WPRobot installed?
I use WPRobot on my Amazon sites just to load the links, a picture and the featured image. I dont pull in tons of duplicate content, I really use it just make link building easier and faster, yet each of my sites once I install WPRObot take a huge hit in the rankings.

    Any thoughts?

do you change the name of the directory and in your file do you disallow google from that area - or password protect it ?

i used WP Robot and i got slammed as well. except i was using it to post content to my blogs and it was most likely duplicate.

i'm not totally understanding what you were using it for? how can WPRobot be used for linkbuilding?

I had three sites that used it which got knocked off the ratings after the last update. Minimal link building to any of them, so I had to put it down to wprobot, and the fact that the sites were blatant thin affiliate sites that dragged all the info, prices and reviews from amazon. Probably wasn't the plugin itself that was to blame but the way in which I used it.

I also used wp-robot to grab new products from dx.com and put my extra affiliate info in the url's. Just as info in things you can do with wp-robot.

Use a robots.txt file to disallow specific search engines from your website folders. Alternatively, I've seen WP plugins that do the something similar.

It is a very good discussion and I know why google punished my webroot, caffeniated websites even I didnot use them and only put them into my plugins folder.

Yeah the way I am using it should be a OK with google, but from my results I am guessing not.

Has anyone made these changes and had their sites rank well?

I am going to have to say no. Not specifically. I think it is something that is working in conjunction with wprobot.

I use this software with a few of my sites and some of my clients. I use yoasts SEO pluggin that way I can noindex and nofollow the category I set up to use wprobot. I use this more to keep posting to the blog on the website then it automatically posts to twitter/facebook for social media. So people can retweet my URL and post stuff on FB about us. This way you get juice from the search engines as being social. But it is mostly automated. I also make a robots.txt file of this:
    Sitemap: http://www.yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml

    Sitemap: http://www.yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml.gz

    Sitemap: http://www.yourdomain.com/sitemapvideo.xml

Yea... this isn't the first time I've heard this. When I was doing research about some Amazon methods I'd see a couple of threads simliar to this.

You got to make it less obvious if that's possible. If there's an obvious footprint, eventually Google will find it and they will be weeded out by it.

I have to been slammed with wprobot sites. Nothinkg ranks anymore and I didn't do any link building. I was heavily automating though so that could be it (ie: every 15 minutes).

I write some rules in my .htacess file, I think it's useful. You can find how to do it in the 8#.

One problem I've seen this weekend is the WP Robot pictures folder which can be found in the source code (search for "robot").

I found a description to change it in the source code, but it seems to be outdated.

As soon as i find a solution I'll post it.

Hi, I'm very new toward building site and can say I have not much knowledge about it.
I was planning on building some site for side income, but heard that Auto-Blogging is not working anymore...kind of sad.

I am glad I come across this forum.

I'm still confuse about the "robot.txt" and "htacess" stuff.
    How does it work?

Do I just go to my site root folder and search for the file (if have), and copy & paste the given code?
Or do I just create them? If so, in which directory?
Will it do harm if I use both method together?

I am planning want to make a site and put out 2 or 3 month worth of auto post, and if I use spinner, google translator and check with dupe cop, is this method going to help me?

I'm easily confuse with so many instruction at once as I'm just a beginner, hope I can get a clear step by step guide on this.
    Thanks~

If you are not so experienced i suggest to use the robots.txt.

Just build an empty robots.txt (!Case sensitive!) and fill it with the text from thread #12:

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /wp-admin
    Disallow: /wp-includes
    Disallow: /wp-content/plugins
    Disallow: /wp-content/cache
    Disallow: /wp-content/themes
    Disallow: /index.php
    Disallow: /wp-activate.php
    Disallow: /wp-app.php
    Disallow: /wp-blog-header.php
    Disallow: /wp-comments-post.php
    Disallow: /wp-config.php
    Disallow: /wp-cron.php
    Disallow: /wp-links-opml.php
    Disallow: /wp-load.php
    Disallow: /wp-login.php
    Disallow: /wp-mail.php
    Disallow: /wp-pass.php
    Disallow: /wp-register.php
    Disallow: /wp-settings.php
    Disallow: /wp-signup.php
    Disallow: /wp-trackback.php
    Disallow: /xmlrpc.php
    Allow: /wp-content/uploads/

After this upload the txt-file to the root-web-folder (where your index.php from WP is located).
