I have read about this issue and think that my website is in Google sandbox. So is Google sandbox real and is there any way to get out of it except waiting and improving the quality of the website?

I think its myth, unless Google say it in their official statement. If you mange to get proper seo done with great content, you can rank easily.

- Be consistent with your content publishing.
- Build HQ, relevant links and be consistent.
- Have patience. It may take up to a year .

How to tell that you have been sandboxed (This can only be quantified in low competition niche/keywords - medium and high competition is different story)
1: your new posts/pages get indexed but overall your traffic remains same, stuck at some point. this means older posts will get de-ranked or de-indexed
2: your new posts not getting indexed - this is hard form of sandbox
Reasons (again we are talking about low competition niche)
1: Content not to the point, AI content works but not useless, nonsense content
2: Images not unique
3: not getting any new backlinks on regular basis, your DA is very low comparitively
4: lack of some crucial on-page SEO, i.e external linking and internal linking important words/keywords, lack of H1, H2 tags etc

I believe it is real.
I once was working with a major real estate client in CA. Some total hack agent had a fully black-hat link from the Yale University school newspaper talking about some Muslim Imam (sp?) coming to Yale to speak with the keywords "(the name of the city) real estate agent" as a its link text.
Google reviewed the site (a little bird might have told them about it) and it went bye-bye. Basically forever.
I do think people can work their way out of the sandbox too but like others said, it is no small feat and takes some serious time.

Register as example 10 never registered domains before, make identical sites with different content. Make some backlinks later.
You will see - most part of the sites will index super slowly and start to rank slowly after 1 year.
Only few sites will get indexed normally and starts to rank in short period of time.
Tested many times.

If you're not an authority, you're not allowed to have a lot of content on your site.
So at this point sandbox is about more than just one thing. It's both about Google accepting your website as someone at all (you need reputation first) and as a bigger publisher in a certain niche, so they don't bury 90% of what you publish (deindex).

What's wrong with waiting and improving the quality? You make it sound like you should be entitled to special treatment instead of enhancing your site. I think the reason people avoid improving the quality of their sites, is cause they know their sites are rubbish, and want everyone to come and say "wow I love your rubbish site, let me stay on it, and click on your ads to make you money"
