How important is Google index count in determining SEO Competition?

For example, if while using Market Samurai PR, Backlinks etc. look good but sites had high Google IC, should this be a concern or not?

Bear in mind that I'm not great at SEO, I know what I need to know and I'm looking for the simplest route to the top.

Think of indexed pages and relevancy as part of the overall -- authority -- of a site.

When you see major sites pull up for search terms that they are weak with...

It's because of those two things.

They might have little to no links pointing to that specific page but Google does something called...

Query Deserves Freshness.

This way they find the most relevant and authoritative content to show.

----

That doesn't mean that you can't outrank them for a specific long tail term.

Just take time to understand why they are ranking that way...

So you can beat them ;)

Good Luck!
