Is Golang worth learning?

I'm a node developer primarily but I'm getting disenchanted with javascript. 2019 is here, and I can see Go rising in popularity is it worth learning in 2019?

For those who write bots how is supportive infrastructure for bot writing with Go?

It's definitely worth learning. Not just easy but also capable.
Writing a bot in Golang is pretty straightforward, especially if you plan to write one for Discord or something similar. You won't need much or have breaking dependecies like you'd experience with npm.

Golang will save you nightmare of developing bot on C/C++ with similar performance , + I guess it's much easier to maintenance and tweaking ,
In past I tried to develop simple bots on PHP , but the nature of PHP didn't encourage you to continue developing any bot on , similar problems with python .
Anyway I saw couple people developing bots on C# as you know these bots can run on Linux machine too , this could be an alternative to you .

HI , yes definitely GO language and PYTHON r worth checking out IMO , if you are really into backend/devops things like that you should go for it.

It really depends on your programming goal. I tried Golang myself and liked it until I started dealing with higher abstractions and then noticed the language had a 'my way or the highway' approach to higher level abstractions and it got worse when you tried to make the language fit into patterns it was not designed to fit into.

I would read some introductory material on Golang and see if you like what you read. If you don't then the options are kind of limited. You could go all out and dive into C or C++.

Best thing about Go is it's concurrency. I've started plenty of projects in other languages (python, c#, etc) that behaved weirdly/wouldn't work right when multitheading was added into the mix. NEVER had this issue with Go. It's concurrency is super lightweight and super reliable. Language features and syntax leave a lot to be desired compared to other languages but those things aren't even that bad after you've worked with it for a while. Definitely worth learning.
