No in fact business verification is a very strong signal for local ranking.

But yeah, I only had success via the postcard method. They want to know where you live, your real phone nr. etc, which is just Google being Google.

its just secured way of verifying your business.. i don think so that it can be tackled. In india i din faced such things 2 years back when i started my company and had listings there instantly.

Yea i forget the "instant" in the title. i just edited it for clarification.

2 years is a very long time for g00gle. Right now it looks like there is no alternative for postcard verification

i have made google business verification easily before a year when i first open my business. dont know how it works now.
