Is forum/blog backlink spamming still safe?

Or has google algorithm changes made it easier to get slapped? Any tips to avoid getting detected as a spammer by both Google and the site admins that get spammed?

Yes , Forum and blog links are still safe but only in moderate amounts. Some good tips would be to rotate URL , Anchor Text and content.

I'd say yes and completely agree with the above posts, but the grey area of "how safe is *enter method here*" is getting obscene and too obvious. Have a peek through the forums...you'll see that many here have been affected by Google's update. If you're undeterred by the setbacks of what backlinking, spamming, spinning and whatnot has done to others and still wanting to backlink, do it like you're adding salt to your food: small amounts, do it carefully and pay VERY close attention to where you make your posts or comments.

Thanks everyone...good news and I guess I can figure out what too much is through my own testing.

Spinning everything makes sense...any tips on the social engineering side of making you're spam stay up? (Not get removed by admin/reported by forum members). I would think most spam get's flagged once it's successfully posted, right?

Yep. Twitter's been on top of the "spamming" trend and is all too quick to remove accounts that do it, from what I understand. Find out the exact posting limits just to keep on the safe side.

Google has changed there algo many time in past and have give preference to many things as the spamming increase in that area , they change the also.

the better way is the spin the keyword and url and link to levl 2 pyramid. as direct link to money site may effect ranking.

only blast to web20s
dont blast to money site because its better to have 200 links that 20000 if you overoptimize its easier to fix

I haven't messed with blog and forum comments directly to money site since last year. I just use those as tier 2'3 for web 2.0s and blog POSTS. This approach seems to be working well for me all year.
