Is Flipping Squidoo Lenses Profitable?

I have been reading all sorts of ebooks and special reports written on flipping squidoo lenses for few hundred dollars. However, I can hardly find anybody buying or selling squidoo lenses. So I doubt flipping squidoo lenses is feasible and profitable.

Any comments?

you may find someone selling squidoo lense at dp, so you may try your luck to sell them there.

I'm not interest to buy squidoo lense, it is easy for people to create your own lense... the problem is promotion...

I found that squidoo group is more easy to drive traffic, as people will place link to your group on their lense, which is free auto-viral.. give it a shot if you are startup.

Actually I am tight on budget so I am looking for ways that I can make money without having to spend any money. Squidoo lense does not even require web host so it's good for newbie like me. However, I cannot see any demand for squidoo lenses.

I agree Ramage, "making lenses on demand" may work... any it is easy to create lense, but people are lazy to do so... help them to build a lense for 10 mins work and you will earn a few bucks .. nice deal for tight budget.

I would agree with some of the others and say you'd probably do better on ebay than on DP.

with that said, you would have to have a pretty thorough lens with lots of good quality content, PR, Backlinks etc. If you are already going to spend that much time, I would much rather buy a good niche-related domain name, use a simple template, and add the content to my own site. Get some good backlinks, start getting traffic, monetize with Adsense/ad network of your choice, and flip the website instead.

While Squidoo has good PR/Alexa ranking, this is looking to me a lot like when people were trying to flip blogger blogs. Just like Blogger, Squidoo is a free site, so if someone wants to get a good lens, they can just make it. Somy question is why would someone want to buy it?

Now there are going to be the lazy few who don't want to do the work...
I just am not sure it's a very good business model unless there is a huge demand for pre-made lenses...flipping websites just seems more profitable to me, but what the hell do i know right?

that's cool for him. i saw some guy over at the WF that has a site dedicated to selling lenses. He charges between 75-150 bucks a lens. They are very simple,too. I may look into this more and test a bit to see if there's money in it. Because I will admit that making a Squidoo lens is much easier and faster than putting together content website. Plus it's free.

And if you can make 75 or more per lens, this definitely might be worth looking into.

Maybe aged and indexed lenses that have already been indexed. But just to create a lense and sell it...you would need a whole lot of suckers. But some of you may already know about this tool but I thought I would share it anyway: bum**demon.com is a free tool provided by edwinsoft the maker of bookmarkdemon. It allows you to find squiddo pages based on keywords. This is a very powerful tool and its still free.

Now here is an idea: Why not make a bunch of squidoo pages that are part of a niche. For example 'forclosure'. Do some research on keywords related to that niche. Make about 20 squidoo pages per niche. Sell these pages in groups. Give them a guide to promote the squidoo pages, such as using bmd to promote it. Give them ideas of affiliate programsthey could use etc. This could be a big money maker for someone.

Good idea. I was thinking to do the same. But I think it is quite labor-intensive. Is there any good software that helps?

Making a one-time guide and creating cookie cutter lenses shouldn't be too labor-intensive. You could outsource the more strenuous parts.
