    Hey all,

I have been doing facebook PPC from quite some time now and mostly doing it for my local clients. Things were going quite well till I noticed these strange statistics in my adds manager. I have set the maximum CPC to be $0.10 (fb suggestion was $0.09-$0.16) but I noticed that facebook is charging me nearly $0.41 per click.

I thought facebook is not suppose to charge us more then our max CPC or am I missing out something?

I noticed it also with a campaign I recently ran but figured it was due to the amount of impressions I received. I think I remember FB showing a message one time that you would be charged for "either or". Honestly I do not even do CPC anymore. I pay for impressions and get $.01 CPM in the US and other developing countries, design an appealing ad, create a "fan gate" that offers an incentive in the "like us" message, and this way I get people curious and receive likes.

Thanks! I just watched a video that blew my mind. I'll never run "like" campaigns with FB ads ever again. I thought the engagement should have been more on my page for the amount of likes I had. SMH I wonder if it's even safe to target custom audiences Ive built. I was ready to launch a couple of campaigns to drive traffic to a fan page and then to a website. Don't really know if I should make the investment after seeing the fraudulent likes on even my own fan pages. Even if you have a custom audience, what prevents them from screwin' with the stats? Nothing.....

they charge you for clicks, not likes. They will charge you the 10c per click that you set it at, but not all clicks will end up actually liking your fanpage. so you have an average of 4 clicks to a like, you are probably seeing the cost per like that facebook is showing you.

Have you had any success with ads on FB recently? Ive noticed that a ton of the likes I get via Fb ads, 'like' 1,000's of other companies and haven't been on FB that long. I ran FB ads to avoid this. I get about 400 likes per dollar and these likes kinda suck. There are videos out there exposing it. So are you receiving active engagement with your ads?

I think that spam in right groups are more effective than paid advertising. And besides, it's free.

Don't know if Im going to continue with FB ads. Will probably post CPA offers to groups from now on. BTW if you want to maximize your likes by paying for clicks. Simply add an iFraming app. I use static html. Then activate a fan gate so that the person who clicks on the ad has to like the page in order to see it. Curiosity killed the cat and if someone clicked on the ad, chances are they will click the like to see the reason they clicked the ad. That's only in the scenario that the clicks aren't fake. For right now that is still up in the air as far as I am concerned.

$.01 CPM in the US? what's your daily spend? I've been trying this for quite a while and no way I get that kind of CPM rate for native-English. Best I had was $.02, but it's all non-native junk traffic.

It takes trial and error and finding the ads that work. Plus I set my maximum bid to $.01 and select impressions. Now normally FB will not give you many impressions if you bid under the suggested and you'll only spend pennies because you'll probably have your daily limit set at $5-$10 and FB isnt going to give you anything for that. What I have learned is that if I set my daily limit $50 or higher, FB gives me tons of impressions at my $.01 CPM. I guess they see that big daily limit and decide "hey we want this $50 no matter what" and by doing this I end up spending $5-$10 daily. I've never had it hit over that with $.01 CPM.

So for impressions : $.01 max bid, $50+ daily limit

I also use a FB ID snatcher to build custom audiences and add to who I am marketing to manually.

PS*** Even after knowing this I think Pohmeliy has the better idea by using groups instead of paid advertising.

Hmm, thanks I just setup my ad with those settings. It won't let me set a bid lower than 0.09$ though. Nonetheless, I activated the ad and we'll see what happens. Hopefully, it's enticing enough.

Thats strange. I set my Ad to whatever max bid I want it to be. What is the suggested?

There's a suggested range. I went for the minimum which was $.09. I've now changed my targeting and it's down to $.06.

Well, I'm not entirely sure it's strange. Seems like it depends a lot on the targeting. I have a bucket load of interests in mine, which I've come to realize, might only make it worse and actually bring less activity.

Yeah I only target about 5-7 interests with tons of people around my niche. But I still do not understand why you can't set your bid to .01. Well it seems like this strategy is still working better then what you had going on. So just keep playing with it. :drinking2
