Is facebook PPC going to work for me

I have been dabbling with FB ads this week, and am starting to have reservations about whether it will ever be profitable for me.

I am trying to get traffic to my gf's website which is a legit gift business, so methods need to be whitehat.
I thought FB would be good for us because the products are artwork so image based ads are likely to help.
So far, CPC looks like it might be too high to get a +ve ROI, and from what I have been reading on here many people seem to think FB is hard.

This section of the forum is also pretty quiet, is this also an indication that many find FB ads difficult to profit from?

I would be grateful of any suggestions to alternative platforms, or strategies to make FB work better for me....

Are you using any sort of targeting for the ads? Are you using ad copies with a proper CTA? What is your CTR? Are you paying for website clicks or just clicks? Provide more details and someone would help you.

It is all based on your targeting my friend. If you can target to the right people and have a good ad copy you will make bank all day. Fb should not be hard for a legitimate business
