Is facebook losing it's edge?

They used to say myspace was to big to die out..... Look at it now....
Their will always be something better sooner or later. People are getting tired of the same ole shit. Its the same way with my new phone. when i first got it i was downloading every single app i can handle, after a while it all starts getting lame and boring. Also with facebook when you have to many friends, their is just to much shit going on in your feeds. I personally dont like it and don't use facebook that much. But i also think its just a trend issue and a to many users issue. How many new users can you keep getting when you have 1/2 of the usa population on your site?
 
In my opinion it is completely losing its edge, it was once a cleanly designed website meant mostly for college kids to network, than they opened up and allowed everyone to network (understandable) than they started adding company pages, than groups, than apps, than a shopping place...now they are trying out a supposed movie service, a mail service...

It was once a place to network and just keep connected with your friends, now its becoming a place to get spammed by services, they are losing there uniqueness to compete with companies (google, apple) which they have no business competing with..

I think this is there ultimate demise, Zuckerburg clearly likes his ego stroked, so much so that he thinks he can take on the likes of more powerful entities in my opinion destroying the point of Facebook.
 
For the most part, I believe fb is merely a super-huge fad. I don't think it's because of spammers. People just burn out on it, much like they eventually do with most things.

If 6 million actually "closed" their accounts in one month; imagine how many arent even using their accounts.
 
I have a huge fan page with over 1,000,000 fans that i am willing to sell. Please PM me if interested.. topic - i don't think facebook is ever gonna be dead ;-)

Good point from a marketing standpoint, although I've only taken a few marketing classes in college being a CIS major...never the less, if he kept it to the College crowd:

Generally have college kids for 4 years than probably 2-4 more years after they graduate as they still keep in touch possibly indefinitely.

You will always have a constant feed of new college kids joining each year, it maintains that "exclusivity" that people seem to love & what makes it special..

Instead its a place that combines tons of mediocre services at best together instead of providing the one amazing service they once had.

It may be around forever, it has definately changed the way the internet works and has most definately expanded the internet.

Because of facebook, aunts, uncles, even grandparents got on the internet for more than emailing. But I do think those are the ones who are tiring of it.

Younger crowds, college kids, middle aged, people with a service or product they want to keep in front of their friends? For sure, I doubt those people aren't going anywhere soon.

I just think there was a rush the last year or two to see what it was all about and many of those are dropping out, losing interest.
 
First it was newsgroups, then IRC, then ICQ, then MySpace; now it's FB. All backed by the same basic idea, better (easier) communication.

The next big thing will be live video oriented, I am sure of it. Mobile phones combined with cheap data plans. Though it is a matter of luck to get a particular platform going. Just like IRC etc. were not the first of their respective kind but one of many similar technologies.

all of what you mention, irc, icq, myspace, fb....they all have one thing in common....bringing people together. facebook was more of an 'all grown up' version of myspace...
 
theres always the possibility that facebook will evolve or be replaced. but we really should consider the worldwide mass user base that facebook enjoys. IRC, ICQ, Myspace...none of these ever had this kind of market penetration.

The Time article on zuckerberg said he all, this is the first species-wide organized network in human history...

They way people use FB will change for sure, perhaps within next year or so with E commerce store integration, Fanpages, FB Ads and other stuffs increasing by the day.

I don't much really but as I said on my blog the other day, seeing Facebook, Google and Amazon all at the Bilderberg conference in Switzerland last weekend meant only one thing to me; that the owners are doing their best to close them down for free riders and maximise profits.

I just wish I knew where the next thing will be... don't we all :D ?
 
Facebook is gonna go down eventually - they have spooked people with the facial recognition technology already people are deleting their photo's from the site.seriously facebook is getting dangerous,youtube and facebook are in danger of government control.the clock is ticking.
