I guess this a very big topic to fit in this thread. E-mail marketing can be profitable if you do it right. Leads quality is a big factor.
Try to get so me books on this topic and then start to learn more.

If you mean spam e-mail marketing then it's a different story. You have to know what you doing otherwise big trouble guaranteed.

Yes, it is two stories between opt-in list and spam list.
For spam list, a decent software is not cheap (something over $20K) and you need to purchase some reliable list. You need $$ to run it, but I know someone make huge profit from it.

If your tight on cash, your best bet is going to be to build an opt-in list. I'm sure there are a lot of resources here that can point you in the right direction to get started.

Take a look in the download section to get a basic idea of where to begin.

From just blasting away using harvested lists, your response rate is going to be around .001 to .15%.

That's why you have to send 50 million t0 make money.

Opt in list mailing can yield !0% or more.

With a list of 100,000 and you get even 2% that is 2000 sales and if you are selling a $50 gizmo.......

..well, you can take the rest of the week off if you like.

Uptownbulker, I guess a lot of new people are boggled by a list of 100,000 - it sounds quite scary. I started by just trying to add one new subscriber a day, then an hour, then two and so on. It seemed much more manageable by then.

Here is a link to Frank Kern's new audio interview with Claton Makepeace, who makes 60-80 Million a Year with E-Mail Marketing. Might be woth a listen.
