Google can distinguish links in content from comments very well, outdated technique doing more harm than good...deadly in terms of Penguin if you do it with keyword links.

You better search for contextual links from authority sites.Commenting links are less valuable now a days,since it's been flooded with thousands of spam comments.

They are not effective anymore. I think you need to focus on unique and high quality content. This kind of contextual links are still effective.
