Great response, but i think OP was referring to annual revenues as opposed to monthly. Obviously, 6/7 figures per month is an overstatement. For christ's sake, what would they be selling to make that crazy amount of money?
$100k/yr is $8.3k/mo, so that's still < 1% of the forum.
7 figures a month is a lot, yes.
6 figures a month not so much. $100k/mo is only $1.2mil/year. That's not a particularly large turnover for a business, but most people you run into on a forum do not own $1mil+/yr businesses. But even if it's only 0.1% in that range, that's still several hundred, up to about 1000 people here. $1mil/year is the mark for a successful business. It's a good minimum to strive to.
7 figures per month are very serious businesses. That range it has to be things like a big info business, SaaS products. You won't really be making that from SEO. You *could*, but it's very specialist and if you go that route you're more likely someone who is buying and selling sites. The top SEO guys tend to make $50k to $300k per month.
You can make 6 figures a month from blackhat stuff too. It's harder these days than it used to be, but it is hell, and always has been hell. It's unstable. One day you're making $10k/day, the next you're making $2.
But 6/7 figures a month is not a crazy amount of money. It is reachable for someone who is dedicated to their business and actually masters marketing, copywriting, funnels etc. It's just out of reach of most people who are looking for a "method" to make bank
To make $100k is the same difficulty as to make $3000.
If you can make $3000, you can make $100k too.
It's just scaling.
The hardest part is to make your first $1000 per month, $2000 per month and so on.
No, just no.
This is just a thing people like to say and have been saying for years. It is not true at ALL.
It's partially true at lower levels. If you can make $20/day, you can probably make $200/day, but that doesn't mean you can make $2000/day.
There are exponentially more issues as you scale. IF you can scale. There's not always a market to scale.
Someone might be able to make $5k/mo targeting a small group of people with facebook or youtube advertising. That group could be warm traffic(knows they have a problem, knows there is a solution, but doesn't know you personally).
Then to scale to $10k/mo with that traffic it might be too expensive, so they have to target cold traffic (knows they have a problem, but not what that solution is. Ie, cold has back problems, warm has back problems and knows chiropractic care will help, and hot has back problems, knows chiropractic care will help, and knows you, Jim, the Chiropractor).
So to scale to just $10k/mo they have to create an entirely new funnel to profit from cold traffic. Very few people can do that. You have to be VERY good.
Let's take SEO as an example.
You've hit $5k/mo.. Now let's scale 10x.
How?
To build a $5k/mo website, you need to invest $10k to $25k. It isn't guaranteed, and it takes a year to build up to $5k/mo on average even with a $25k/mo investment(You just have a higher chance of success doing it in 1 year rather than 18 months with 25k over 10k )
And this assumes you're already good and can replicate your success. In my experience most people can't.
Then we've not even talked about scaling from $50k/mo to $500k/mo. You have a whole new set of problems there. Support, problems with your product, bank problems, legal problems, managing staff, managing that many customers, managing that much money.
So, scale really does only apply from $20 to $200, and even then, not in all cases.
