considering how bad their infrastructure is and how difficult it is to pass through customs, is it even worth the effort? might as well keep targeting developed countries

No, most middle east buys only from cash on delivery eCommerce websites.

I live in the middle east and wouldn't recommend doing so. It will be a hassle, and the chances of succeeding will be meager. As you said, because everything the merchandise goes through, you will have a hard time finding customers who will trust you to receive the items they delivered. You will have many delivery problems to deal with, and it will take too much of your time for the size of the market of the middle east. I believe it's not worth it.

It's usually recommended to stick to the US, Canada, UK, Australia. Not too sure about Middle East.

i think its good idea, but COD ( cash on delivery ) is the best there. try it
