Is doing blasts on a subdirectory towards a main url landing page bad?

What if I created a blog "example.com/blog" and within that blog (example.com/blog/article-of-a-cool-product), I created articles which point back to the main site, say "example.com/cool-products" then do blasts such as sb, bookmarking, etc. Will this be non effective? Would it just be better to blast tier2 sites such as tumblr, blogger, web2.0 related sites instead and point them towards the money site?
