Is Directories Still Working?

Hello Mates,

I have one doubt, from the past 1 year directories are not working because most of the directories that what i saw had more spam score, Even most of the seo people said directories became spam and Only guest posting and forums are working better. Here my doubt is some countries like saudi arabia had no blogs to get back links(Guest Post), Then how can one build quality backlinks rather than directories...Because directories not working, No chance for guest post..Then How? Is there any way....to bring make backlinks

I wouldn’t bother to be honest, unless it’s super-local and you are doing it for traffic.
 
Its a nice addition for diversity and maybe branding but if you expect major rank increase that's not gonna happen.
 
It's considered a staple foundational link for Local SEO, so yes they still work.

If you're not ranking for local tho, they have little value.
 
It depends. Over 90% of the ww directories are trash. But those 10% (maybe less) are still good for your website/business. For example, if you are in the wedding industry and your business (brick and mortar or online) is located in US or Canada, WeddingWire is a good directory (and an expensive one) to get potential leads & transfer some link juice to your website.

The idea is to get into niche-relevant directories, paid directories (the free ones will damage your site), and non-spammed with trashy websites.

Do HQ directories help in any way? Would like to know more about directories having them as backlinks. Do it worth in any way?
 
Yes they do work but only the major ones and not have 200+ directories spammed just to get a link
 
How about now, guys? What do you think? Does it still work for ranking if the directory is of high quality and relevant?
 
Do not ever think about it. Why do you think all the directories died ?
