What do you think of Digg, just came back and managed by ex Reddit team, some people saying it's going to be the next Reddit.

Many usernames are available for communities I just claimed two that have millions of followers on Reddit, finger crossed!

Happy to share the potential gold mine and to hear your thoughts

Honestly, Digg feels like a second-chance experiment more than a guaranteed breakout. The team matters, but communities decide the winner. If Digg solves the moderation + discovery pain better than Reddit, it has a shot. If not, it’ll stay niche. Early usernames could still be valuable if momentum kicks in.

Very promising, perhaps in the future there will be another strong social media platform to compete with existing ones.
 
Haven't heard that name in forever, wow

I used to have a service about it in a former life. It was a money making machine.

God, I miss those simpler days.
 
Feels more like a nostalgia reboot than the next Reddit. Unless they crack moderation and real daily usage fast, early usernames won’t matter much outside a small tech crowd.
 
It's not easy to attract people to a newer platform unless you're offering something radically different. Let's see how it goes with Digg. Personally, I don't see anything unique as yet
 
Does the site existed few years ago and was very very popular ? Is rebranding being done ?

Uh, no reddit was where people went after digg dug it's own grave.

MySpace, digg, they're all dead, there will not be any resurrection.
 
New Digg has a chance, I don't think they're going to reach the point where Reddit is now, but it has some traffic, at least right now. Then again Voat had traffic for a bit and that floundered pretty quickly.

The difference between Voat and Digg is that Digg actually has a pretty extensive business plan, a solid founder team, decent money behind it and name recognition. I'm just sitting here waiting to spend money on the first Digg upvote service that pops up (HINT HINT). I'd like to invest in growing some communities that could come in handy later.

Reddit though has an enormous userbase and Google features them prominently.

After spending a good chunk of the morning researching/measuring traffic/building out accounts, I'd estimate it will take probably 2 years before Digg gets within an order of magnitude of Reddit's traffic.

Worth looking into, but maybe hold of on any bold statements for now. It's interesting how it's back in the radar though but just becuase it's backed by old Reddit peeps, doesn't necessarily mean it'll be a breakaway success.
Good for branding just becuse but in terms of traffic, exact value remains to be seen.
If Digg does end up winning out, it's likely becuse it filled in gaps that Reddit doesn't rather than anything to do with nostalgia or back to roots management.
 
Digg is very old. It couldn't evolve over time so I doubt if it suddenly becomes successful. Reddit itself was a dying platform until Google decided to promote it for data scraping to feed their AI.
 
It has potential, but with a different direction. After more than a decade of decline, Digg is making an ambitious comeback.
 
Digg probably won’t be the next Reddit. Reddit’s success comes from its massive, diverse communities, deep engagement, and strong algorithm that rewards quality content. Digg just doesn’t have the same scale, active user base, or community-driven culture. Plus, It's hard to replicate ecosystem of reddit like subreddits, mods, upvotes, and AMAs. Digg might find a niche, but replacing Reddit? Unlikely .
 
I don't think so. Digg had its moment, but that's over. Maybe it'll manage to build a good user base and a lot of activity again, but Reddit is on another level.
 
Digg as the next Reddit? Color me skeptical. Sure, Digg was huge back in the day, but its decline was pretty steep. Just because it's now managed by some ex-Reddit folks doesn't automatically mean it will recapture that magic.
Let's talk numbers. Reddit is a giant with millions of active users, not just followers. Claiming usernames that have millions on Reddit doesn't guarantee you'll get the same traction on Digg. It's about the community and engagement, not just numbers or names.
How's the traffic on Digg these days? Are people actually coming back, or is it just a small crowd of enthusiasts? Also, what makes Digg different this time around? Reddit's successful because of its community-driven approach, freedom, and variety. Is Digg offering something better or just a copycat?
And then there's monetization. Reddit's got its ad game and coin system down. How's Digg planning to bank in a sustainable way?
Before you get too deep, consider if the potential gold mine is fool's gold. If it's going to scale, it needs more than just a familiar management team.
 
I think it’s interesting, especially with the ex-Reddit team involved. That definitely gives it some credibility.
