With stripe dropping btc, because it no longer acts as a currency, is crypto dying?

Especially how volatile it is. As I write this, BTC is worth +/- 20% depending if I'm a peck typist, or a paralegal.

Honestly, the future seems pretty fucking stupid if when you go to a grocery store and have arbitrary pricing on everything:

"Your order is between $45-$2000. Good thing you brought coupons. You've saved anywhere from $2.38-$$1,400 from that manufacturer's coupon on buy one get one 25% off! Thanks for shopping at your local grocery store with bitcoin."

I think no, it's normal to find same "dead" moments!

It is not dead and that volatility always existed for last 8 years. Still people made millions by investing.

Futures contracts end tomorrow so right now bitcoin is being artificially devalued by institutions. Wait and see what happens after.

Not quite as dead as the brains of the people who think Bitcoin is going to replace fiat and be a one world currency, but yeah pretty dead.

It's sad that a lot of gullible fools took "trading" advice from clowns when Bitcoin was at 20k. Now they are all sat on half their money waiting for the promised $40k bitcoin. Sad but also hilarious, because they just wouldn't be told by the "haters" who are just stoopid peeple who no nothin.

Stripe is considering adopting XLM instead. It's because BTC has high fees and is digital gold, not to be used for everyday transactions.

You have to look at it not in terms of bitcoin is the ultimate version of crypto, it's the prototype. It's like comparing dial up to the internet we have now.

Crypto is as dead as SEO. Almost everything online is dead :(:(

In my really big thread on Investment Basics, I mentioned a worst case scenario for any and all of us who have Crypto investments.

You should also always have a worst case scenario in mind. And I don’t just mean “well, the market could collapse” – I mean, actually plan the demise. Here is mine:

The UK, US and the German governments get together. They decide that Cryptocurrencies are fantastic, but not in their current form. So they decide to create three: UKX, USX and EUX, everything else is the same – it’s decentralised in that the governments don’t decide when new coins are made – they use the same mining techniques that are used currently (Anyone can mine).

There is one other important difference. The governments state that the coins value will always remain fixed to the US Dollar, Great British Pound and Euro respectively. What would happen?

Well, because of the stable environment that has been created, immediately Amazon, Google, Paypal and Co would accept these coins as forms of payment. Which would leave, your coin, my coin – any other type of coin fucked.

Make a worst case scenario and keep it at the back of your mind always.

I think that might be a possible future of Crypto. Essentially, I don't think that it's dead. Nor is it dying. I do think that if it doesn't settle at some point within the next five years it will die.

Crypto cannot maintain it's "Asset" label, as it only holds value because of it's potential uses. If those uses fail, then so does Crypto.

The tech behind it is wonderful and will be here for ever though.

Hopefully lightning network will come then Bitcoin can finally be used as a currency which was satoshis intention.
