    I've been looking around, and I cant seem to find the answer. What I mean by that is, do cpm ads have to actually be viewed for a certain amount of time, or does it just have to be there. If I had a game app that popped up an ad everytime someone died and they clicked out of it in a few seconds would that count as an impression or would it need to be viewed longer for it to count as an impression. Also if the same ad is shown to someone multiple times is it still an impression?

    CPM is Cost per Mille (thousand) or you can say cost per thousand view. If an ad has an impression then it means the ad is view-able/displayed.
    On a side note Cost Per View(CPV) is related to video ads. Here you pay if someone watches your video.

    It just have to be there, time is not a factor.
    The moment it pops up , it gets counted as an impression.
    In general every time an ad is displayed it is counted as an impression.

    Mille means 1000. So CPM means cost per mille not cost per thousand mille, but other than that he was right!

    Thanks for pointing is out. I had "per thousand view" in mind while writing so messed it up. Corrected now.

    M is 1000 is Roman numerals as well as Mille in Latin means 1000.

    CPM pays for 1k impressions.
    Its Cost Per Mile.

    Different ad networks have different rates for cpm.

    Home Page:
    CPV=Cost per view
    CPM= Cost per mile
    So,
    CPV=CPM/1000
