Is Cloudflare bad for SEO

It can speed up load times and positively impact website performance. There are, however, a few instances where it can potentially harm your SEO, including adding time to an already fast server, reporting your site as being down whenever Cloudflare is itself down, and interfering with link checkers.

If you properly use page rules, caching and edge optimization to deliver your content, your site can get up to 100x speed boost and rank like a king.

This can only be bad in the case of local SEO, and then I say that is too small a factor that will affect, far more important which GEO you set the On-Page and Off-Page optimization.

I never had a global site negatively affected by cloud flare, constantly improving SEO with speed and security.

As someone else stated, only the local market servers and residents may be slower, but we are talking maybe 500ms to 1 second; if your site is fast, google won't care long as it passes web vitals.

I see tinfoil hat articles about google deranking or deindexing sites due to so-called bad IPs; if this were even partially true, it would create spicey drama on cf community forums.

Cloudflare can be bad for SEO because cloudflare is almighty
  1. Cloudflare can modify your code
  2. Cloudflare can modify your HTTP headers
  3. Cloudflare can inject HTTP headers
  4. Cloudflare can inject code in your HTML code
  5. Cloudflare can rewrite your URLs
  6. Cloudflare can spy on you.
  7. Cloudflare may alter the SEO of your website by degrading the SEO score in lighthouse extension
  8. Your website may not be available in some countries. For instance Russia banned Cloudflare. So ALL websites using cloudflare are unavailable in Russia.

For instance, it uses browser integrity checks => Javascript injection in your code at the bottom
blackhatworld works behind cloudflare however the webmaster disabled this browser integrity check as I don't see it in the code.

If you use cloudflare you better disable ALL features like email Obfuscation, and URL normalization.

if its bad google wouldnt recomend it in GSC, even now they make cl user easier to integrate with google search

i'vee been using cloudflare till now and no problem

Cloudflare's actually pretty good for SEO. It can speed up your site and make it more secure, which Google likes. Just make sure you set it up right so it doesn't mess with your SEO settings. Overall, it's a thumbs-up from me!

I'm always ceptical look at it:

you must create a cname like this; www.mydomain (instead without www) that is ok, but many cdn providers telling you that this will noit work it's same to your origin domain (statement Blazingcdn) your need a complete different domain like cd.mydomain.

And that is the devil in detail and will be sure not ranking your content, do you have s
Cloudflare is an IP (Internet Protocol) blacklist service. Their purpose is to hide websites from prying eyes by redirecting traffic through one of their private servers. There are huge positives to using Cloudflare - one being it's free (and with a free trial), though there are some cons.

Right now, Cloudflare doesn't host any original content. Cloudflare only hosts static content, so your site will be hosted by whoever hosts your domain.
For SEO purposes, this can be good or bad. If Cloudflare hosts all your content, then Google won't see any of your original content. This is why it's a good idea to host at least some of your own content on your server.
You can also use Cloudflare to speed your site up. Cloudflare servers are extremely fast, and will increase loading speeds substantially.
This is why I'm sceptical about cdn, they all forcing me to use a cname record. Blazingcdn told me that I can't use www.mydomain because it's to related to my root origin must use cdn.mydomain....

Why? They rank with your content....and you the non wef elite data slave, should have to pay and get nothing. Based on a lie...

And google made these canonical links now worthless, means the opposite: big websites, cdn, platforms have the right to rank with your content..

The one domain I use now as test with an google cloud vm I have good ttfb;

europe 300ms
usa100-140ms

but Now I activated Blazingcdn with an cdn.mydomain cname record, now the ttfb is higher ,menans also no faster speed , I wonder, should this cdn not slow more down the ttfb?

check the site with chrome dev tool right click, then under network, reload page, the home index page has 820ms, withoud cdn it has 512ms
??? What's wrong with that cdn? No matter, with cloudlfare it's more worse (higher ttfb) , many people get fast slower ttfb I not.

Deep thinking, any suggestions? I must look in my crystal bowl...go to the future teller ? o_O

I have clear reminded at 2023 July I posted here that I saw some major keywords rank drop when I am connected to Cloudflare most of the peoples argue with me. But when I disconnect from CF my ranking has been back the top positions again. So yes I think there is a ranking factors with CF cdn

Strange, does all of your content drops when CF was active or only a few or all?
But when search for this issue in google, it's rare that you will find answers, 98% will answer you that it has zero negative seo affect on your content- right? Please stay awake I say there are something strange things happen with these search engines, more answers often you find in duckduckgo.

But I not think that a cdn will complete dropping all your content in the serps, because then nobody would use it. Maybe it's a jump like you changed the webhosting, your content is down for a few days then back again, or something like that...

I was thinking that join to CF server that's why Google showing me some rank drop. But can you imagine after 2 months the keywords of my sites going down and down. Strange for me also when I am seeing that CF disconnect the keyword jump to top position within few days now think?

This is that thing I'm sceptical about, CF not caches your origin as backup/storage no, because you must change your nameservers to them, with that CF is the origin storage not your website, that is the point there.

use a cdn where you not must change the nameservers, where you can use a cdn .myname subdomain or with www.mydomain that would be way better, that makes the difference.
Run away from that CF shit really, when your webhosting is fast like you have in europe 200-300ms and in usa 100ms , then you are fine and not must use any cdn, when not, change to a better webhost speedypage (my experience) or rocket.net many people talked about their fast ttfb with them.

Rocket.net is using CF yes, but with their enterprise plan , the Cf enterprise plan is different than the free plan when it comes to that subject.
Take off CF first wait a few days, check your pages in the serps write again new content then check the ttfb with the keycdn performance tool.

Then do the next steps.

it is not so good for seo in my experience
Same. I thought people here are experts but they don't know a simple thing. There's a method that may help with seo when using cloudflare but there's only a 50% chance it will work.

No. I use CF on all my websites and have been for about 5 years. They rank very well.
