Is chatgpt underpriced?

Probably not much. The free one is extremely good already. But it is a very costly operation, and in order to keep it running, they need atleast some money back. Not everything should come from the investments, because they will be draining money pretty fast like that.

If I had more money right now, I would happily take their paid tier, just to support the company, even if it is not much.
Ah yes, let's support the poor folks of Microsoft, surely they won't make a monopoly out of it and charge our asses 10x within a couple of years.

I think it's going to go cheaper and cheaper. It already is. Too much competition and open sourced models doing the similar job for free. Comparing it with almost monopolistic ahrefs doesn't make sense.

If this department does not perform well during the next few years, microsoft wouldn't think twice to sell it off. The teams in these big corporations are always in "competition" according to what I heard and have faced.

My support is for those awesome devs in that team, not for the company particularly.

They may get left out in such deals. Very less companies promote esops.

Is just the begining, right now they still training the AI once the training is complete and the AI can provide more solid responses they will launch more features and increase the price there I believe will go for $40 or $50 per month and yealy subscriptions, also like addicts they are making the people so dependant of chatgpt than once the price increase everyone will payment because they won't be able to do anything without the tool so they are creating AI addicts.

It could be cheaper
They limit stuff to 25 in GPT4
Not good.

IMHO This whole AI thing is not so powerful as people think.
Yes it helps with coding and gives some ideas.
But it makes things up and gives similar answers often.
Keeps repeating

But for me it isn't like Wow.
Tool, like any other.

I'm waiting for GPT5

That can be their trick to trap more and more people. When they have become used to the product, they will raise prices.

People just haven't grasped its value yet and think it's a stupid machine without a soul

Im sick with chatgpt, AI doesnt exist , its a better google !

But they are using it for hours. All this data with chatgpt. They must see that people are desperate to use chatgot features.

I agree. Or at least, I don't see them tightening the screws much anytime soon. The real money is in the API. And they haven't tapped even a fraction of the potential market there. People barely know what they CAN do, if that, much less are using it to the full potential they will be in a few years when AI literacy is par for the course in online business. Their API traffic volume will be immense.

And they are also going to have a lot more competition than Anthropic, Meta and Google pretty quickly. The amount of money that got thrown at AI startups the last few months is really something. It won't be a monopoly. Not as the field looks now. They are first, not ultimate.

It keeps repeating because it is a predictive engine and in ChatGPT your system message, temperature, sampling, and frequency penalties are always the same (vs the API where you control those things) I.e. You are always getting an answer from within the X most probable answers. Naturally, the most probable answers are going to start sounding similar quick. If the were very different, they would be less probable. That's why if you keep asking GPT for 10 ideas for XYZ, it'll run out of "original" ideas and give you minor variations on a few themes after a short time.

Between prompt design and using the API parameters, there is much more GPT is capable of than can be done through ChatGPT.

I would gladly pay more for chatgpt if they removed all the free tiers and gave us paying users more ressources....

$20 a month for such an awesome tool. Generate hundreds of articles daily for such a low price. Why are they providing the premium tool for such low price?
It's really cheap, yes, but there are better options currently

They started the process of making money. In the past, 120$ api key could be obtained for free, they removed this method and put a mandatory payment of 5 dollars. It looks like it will be completely removed in the future.
