Changing a piece of URL have any impact on Google rankings?

http://www.mysite.com/first-url to http://www.mysite.com/first-url-updated

how it affects rankings?

All change is risky, changing all of your website URL will affect your SEO score.
 
Changing Urls have big impact on SEO, Don't do it if you can't afford losing rankings for a few days.
 
You may lose the ranking first and then it may increase.
 
If you properly 301 redirect the old URL to the new URL it has no effect. That's what 301's are for.
 
Changing the Urls may lose your ranking, so you should be prepared for it. Try not to always change the Urls

How is it risky?, please explain. A 301 will redirect traffic and tell search engines the page has permanently moved so it passes any juice to the new URL. That's exactly what 301's are for.
 
It will affect the google ranking, It's pretty normal and unbelievably common especially redirecting a "new domain" to another new domain. It should take a few months to regain your previous rankings.
 
Changing of url is effect on ranking and traffic so the best thing is redirect from old url to new url is some better.
 
You probably might loose rankings, cos some backlinks would be attached to that URL making a 301 redirect would form a redirect chain.
 
It will surely affect your Google Ranking severely. All your pages was indexed based on your Keywords in your page contents and URL structure. If you changed this thing, the those become unusable and your entire ranking will be affected.

You present it like his website is going to die if he decides to change some page URLs. Depending on where he is ranking there will be some temporary position changes, but the site is not going to die :D
 
It happened to me after url change i had to wait a few months to get my rankings back.
 
If the page is not getting the result as expected means you are forced make some changes means you can go for URL change.If you are in dilemma about changing it or how to do it means my suggestion will be don't go for it.

It is not a good idea to go for the top ranking page. Because there will be break on your organic traffic for some time (may exceed more than month)
 
I had the same question a while ago, I changed the url for seo purposes to include the main keyword I wanted to target. I set up a redirect 301 straight away and my ranking didn't seem to be affected. If anything increased on the new target keyword.
 
You need to 301, and yes it changes seo. URL is a very important ranking factor.
 
OP said nothing about changing content, only the URL.

According to Google, 301 redirecting a URL to the same page has ZERO effect on pagerank/SEO:
