You are correct that high end models are luxury only.
I got friends who'll pour their last dime into a car. I see a car as a financial liability.

i think its the opposite if you live in town and countrysideIf you live in a city then luxury. If in the country side then you just need it

Depends on your situation. Most people from my city work in the capital city which is approximately 70kms away. So they definitely need a car or they can take a bus/train. The problem is that we have four seasons here and three of them aren't too comfortable (snow, rain, cold). In our situation, we simply need cars. It makes our lives easier.

Depends on where you live.
Public transport in the EU is usually well-developed, and having a car is convenient, but definitely not necessary.
In the US though you won't get anywhere without a car (at least in certain states/ cities), because public transport is clearly not their priority.

Luxury? Yeah, if you have a tesla or something lol.
Necessity? Depends on what you do and how much you have to travel. If you go 2-3 times a week/your travel is already cheap and comfortable, it makes no sense to get a car. Cars are like elephants in this case lol.
If you have to travel a lot, a car can actually be a good thing to have.
This is coming from a non car owner, so take it with a grain of salt please.

It's really about where you live and what you do. But agree on high end models with unnecessary features, that's just luxury.
