Now, I'm taking from a financial aspect. Is it worth our time, financially, to blog?

And I'm not talking about autoblogs. I'm talking about running a single blog and updating it daily.

I can't see why not, if you have a good targeted niche, good flowing traffic, great long tail keywords and plenty of content it is a worthwhile venture the way I see it.

Well there are two ways to look at it. Yes, if you are willing to put the time into it, in the end it will be well worth your time. Again, it's something you have to work at. If you know nothing about SEO, you'll have to put a ton of time into the blog and learning how to make it successful before it'll start paying off. If you're just new to the whole blog game but not SEO, it'll obviously be a quicker process.

The other way to look at it would be this. No because there are much easier and more effective ways of making money online. That wasn't your question however, so we'll end it here.

Good blogs and good forums is were its at because there updated daily or weekly so yes they will have power, I think its better to create your own articles {or pay someone to do it for you } 100% unique because they are only found on your site and I personly have had great success once my blogs get in the 500 - 1000 articles on them !!

Personally I find blogging a lot of work with very little financial returns.

But I feel the need to have a blog is necessary because instead of updating you web page every day, you just have to write a new blog.

It's also a great way to keep in touch with your clients by just sending them a short message asking them to visit your blog for new information.

Yea why not you can sell links on your blog once it gets good enough PR.

If you get decent number of readers you can affiliate link the shit out of them with cunning well written posts.

It will take a while before you see any return, but so what its only 30mins a day.

Blogging is remunerative when you update regularly and give good and informative stuff ... Though I have not tried few of my friends say it's remunerative but not initially .. once it picks up it's worth the efforts ... Hope it helps :).

    Best Regards

You could ask the same question, (and someone probably has), about
twitter, FB, or any CMS. Blogs are just content management systems,
    nothing more.

Blogs (CMS's) don't make money, content and promotion does.

For me, I gave up my promotional blog, it was just too time consuming
    to write good content.

It's worth it if you're serious about it and treat it as a business. Not just a personal thing that you'll do whenever you have time. If you go that route, you won't get any value out of your blog.

Now if you blog daily, and actively work on SEO.. you could become the authority in your niche and start making money selling your own products, etc.

    That's my take on it.

blogging just to support your main site and add "seo points" to it
that is my way. financial services are high competition niche and bloging only will not be enough

Yup, definitely worth it if you're getting good traffic. But if you're not I'd try a different approach.

Thanks for all the answers so far everyone.

I think it's just something you need to keep at. A year or so back, I began blogging, and for 6 months straight, I wrote a post (or even two) a day. I commented on other blogs, social bookmarked, and my blog was getting NICE traffic. Now, I didn't know shit about monetizing back then, so i didn't really make anything. But now that I look at it, the possibilities are endless. Sell product, sell guest posts, link space, etc..

So many different ways to make money form your blog.

Sounds like we were living a parallel life! And after the fact, I felt overwhelmingly "If only I knew then what I know now." But it's all a part of the learning curve. Be grateful for the time "wasted", it got you to HERE.

Blogging is worth it, if you're a good interesting writer, or can pay such people to be that for you. And the SEO thing of course. But theres so many good SEO type plugins for Wordpress, all you need is good original content out of your mind or someone elses.

I'll second this. There are tons of people spending tons of time writing Blogs, setting up message Forums, spending time on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and similar things who are not making a dime doing it. They just do it because it is something they like to do.

Any of the people doing any of those things just for the fun of it -- and doing it really well, with good promotion, good word-of-mouth, and good content--could make money off of what they are doing it they knew how to do it. And that can be learned. You sound like one of those people.

On the other hand, somebody who throws up a site with WP or Vb, or spends time on Twitter, FB, etc. just because they think they are going to make a fortune without knowing Jack about promotion and SEO--that type of person probably isn't going to find what they want. At least, not in the long run.

Yes, blogging is worth it. If you enjoy blogging and if writing short, solid articles/posts that somebody else would want to read for some reason comes easy to you. Otherwise, you might be better off figuring out what you actually enjoy doing on a daily basis online and then working on a way to make that into an income-producing situation.

If you live and breathe for the fast pace and immediacy of Twitter, then figure out a way to monetize that interest of yours. Ditto for Facebook or MySpace, or online Forums, or whatever. Concentrate on what you like and are good at.

If you have to do something that you don't like to do in order to make money, then most people can put up with that and do what needs to be done. But why cause yourself the pain if you don't have to? It is a lot more fun and interesting if you also enjoy what you are doing to make money. And you'll stay sane longer. :D
