Is Blogger worth it in 2020

Today I started a blog on Mass Communication Studies. Its this course that I am studying for Under Grad, I am planning to share all my study material over here.

I don't want to dedicate much time for this, but I want this to be monetized in future. So is blogger the best platform for this? I opted this cause its free.

The only monetization option available here is adsense right?

In order to make money from a blog you need to dedicate a fairly good amount of your time. As you're just learning, blogger is just fine IMO. You can even add your own custom domain on blogger.

Adsense is not the only monetization option. If you have approved account in any affiliate program you can use that as well.

You should look around at different affiliate networks and which advertisers are there relevant to your niche. Since you have a very specific target audience you can target very relevant ads towards them. That would be in my opinion a better (and more profitable) strategy than just throwing adsense in there.
 
Thats a wonderful niche actually. Grasping the subject matters and converting those into useful content and publishing them as blog post should be the suggested approach. Yes, blogger route is fine but I will advise you to establish your own blog via WP installed on your own domain as that will give you better control overall.
You should be fair to UpGrad and ensure that you don't publish the course materials as it is as then it may be a copyright infringement.

Monetisation options can be Adsense but not limited to it alone. There are many other ways available to monetise.

this opened my mind for bigger scope that this content might have, thanks. Also Yah I was careless with uploading the course materials thinking it won't affect me but if seen in longterm it would be big issue. I would refrain from directly uploading it.
 
It has been a long time since I used blogger, but right off the bat I would recommend you to install your blog using Wordpress self hosted with your own domain, this will allow you to think and work long term. The only cost here will be an annual fee of about 12 bucks for a domain and hosting you can find nowadays for as little as a couple of bucks per month (maybe no the best but enough for a starter blog).

I think blogging will still be worth pursuing for years to come, however, this is a marathon type of endeavor, you have to grind it and build your presence through good planning and execution of a sound content and link building strategy.

Beware of sharing content or information in your study material that may break copyright laws.
 
For longterm, you can choose Wordpress, becasue it has more features, and more control. And make unique content it will avoid copyrights issue in future, and also it will help you to get the Adsense approval quickly.

You can monetise with other affiliate programs as well but getting accepted in those programs with this blogger blog will not be easy.

Yes, it's worth. But you have to maintain unique good content, SEO optimization, backlink, audience building. If you want a long time blogger then you have to choose WordPress.
 
Blogger is suck. You should avoid it for your money site. Better invest to your own hosting with CMS like wordpress. It's much better. I think.
 
As your blog grows you'll find out as you go what features and stuff you need from a blogging platform, then worry about it.

If you're just starting don't even worry about this type of stuff or monetization, focus on quality content that people will like.
 
Yeah, Blogging is worth in 2020. But the matter is how are serious with your blogging and continuously doing. The failure in blogging I see is a person get inspire by some other work and start their own blog. But after a while, they left working on because of no interest and passion. I would suggest every one no matter what are you doing just do with passion.
 
Blogging is always worth - whether its past , present or future. The only thing that matters is quality content and traffic. A newbie can start with a free platform and later on can migrate to a paid one. Monetize your blog with affiliate links to see online income rolling in.
 
considering your plan, you will do better with wordpress.
Find your niche, monetazion method. target audiance, than create yoru arrticle. and wait it to rank at google.
it will take long time. but with the right kw your site will rank.
 
If you're new to all this blogging stuff, I'd suggest you to start with blogger, but not with your main idea.

First time you will fail. That's the way it is. If you don't know how to write blog content or how to do keyword research, you'll mess up.

That's fine. It happened to all of us. I'd suggest you to start with another niche, and when you feel you're ready, open a blog with your main niche, but this time, not with a free alternative such as Blogger.

i agree with @pennymarketer - long term , you need to own the platform, so that you can do what ever you want to do with it. worse thing is having blogger killing your account for some stupid reason
