The only thing that's happened in the last few years is that as big sites got more aggressive litigation-wise, BH supporters have gotten more careful about openly promoting tactics that can be plausibly argued to be illegal. Some may take the 'anti-fraud' stance too far, saying all BH ideas that are accused of involving fraud must be shunned (which is a slippery slope, since nearly any clever method can be rhetorically spun as misrepresentation in some way), but the new approach has not 'killed' the effectiveness of the techniques themselves, just their open discussion.
